Cookie Policy

Toolcloak keeps cookie-like storage to an absolute minimum. This page explains exactly what is saved on your device and how to control it.

What are cookies and local storage?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device. Local storage is a similar browser feature that lets a site remember small pieces of information. Toolcloak mainly uses local storage.

What Toolcloak stores

  • toolcloak_cookie_consent (local storage) — your choice to accept or decline the notice.
  • _ga and _ga_* (cookies from Google Analytics) — set on every visit so we can count visitors anonymously.
  • toolcloak_history (local storage) — recently used tools. Used to show "Recently used" shortcuts and the History page.
  • toolcloak_tool_entries (local storage) and toolcloak_files (browser database) — your inputs, results and result files, so History and Saved files can show them again. Stored only on your device and only if you accept.
  • toolcloak_theme, toolcloak_wishlist, toolcloak_pins, toolcloak_chains_v1, toolcloak_notepad_v1, toolcloak_alerts_v1 and toolcloak_install_dismissed (local storage) — your theme, starred tools, chains and small settings. They make the site work the way you left it and are never sent anywhere.
  • Offline cache (service worker) — copies of pages, scripts and fonts you opened so the site loads faster and works offline. You can clear it with your browser site data.
  • toolcloak_reloaded (session storage) — a short-lived flag that avoids reload loops after a site update. It disappears when you close the tab.

Analytics and advertising cookies

We do not set advertising cookies. Toolcloak uses Google Analytics on all visits, and Google Analytics sets its own cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to count visits. To remove them, clear cookies for toolcloak.pages.dev in your browser settings, and to stop analytics you can use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or block cookies for this site.

Third parties

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, analytics comes from Google Analytics, all tool libraries and QR codes are served and made by Toolcloak itself, and the site is hosted on Cloudflare; these providers may process technical data such as your IP address when delivering content. If we enable advertising in the future, ad providers may set their own cookies and this policy will be updated first.

How to control or delete stored data

  • Choose "Decline" on the notice and your history, results and result files will not be saved.
  • Delete single items from History or Saved files, or use the Clear buttons there.
  • Use the Clear button next to "Recently used" on the home page.
  • Clear cookies and site data for toolcloak.pages.dev in your browser settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all offer this).

Changes

We may update this policy if our use of storage changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
