How Toolcloak Works
Toolcloak tools are small programs that download once and then run on your device. That is why they are fast and why your data stays yours.

Step 1 — Choose a tool
Browse the seventeen categories or use the search box on the home page or inside any category. Every tool has its own page with instructions, tips and FAQs.
Step 2 — Add your input
Paste text, type a value or choose a file from your device. Files are read directly by your browser — they are not uploaded anywhere.
Step 3 — Get the result instantly
The tool runs on your device and shows the result immediately. Copy it with one click or download the output file.
The technology behind it
Toolcloak relies on features that modern browsers already include:
- File API and Canvas — read and process images on your device.
- Web Crypto API — generate secure random passwords and compute SHA hashes.
- JavaScript engine — format JSON, run regular expressions, convert numbers and text.
- Local storage — remember your recent tools if you allow it.
Why this is more private
Traditional online tools send your file to a server, process it there and send it back. That means a copy of your data exists on someone else's computer. With Toolcloak the processing happens locally, so there is no upload and no copy.
Tips for the best results
- Use an up-to-date browser for the best speed and compatibility.
- For very large images or PDFs, close other heavy tabs to free memory.
- Keep a copy of your original files before compressing or converting.
- Read the short guide under each tool for quality and format tips.
